What are the odds of choosing two clubs out of a deck of 52 cards?
let me see if I can help you
52 cards in all
1/4 are clubs then
52*1/4= 13
that 13 clubs in the deckright and you ony need 2
it would be something like 13 out of 52, but you only need 2
I don't know if this is right, maybe you need a step more but I don't remember. Write me back and tell me what you think.
You need to specify how many tries?
Do you draw 2 cards, and you want the probability of them both being clubs?
Do you replace after you draw one?
You need to specify more...
Capuchin from my experience usually the card is not put back into the deck and then drawn again but I might be wrong. I will assume that you do not put your card back into the deck.
You draw your first card out of a deck of 52 cards so the chances of you getting a clubs is 1/4 because there are 13 clubs in a deck of cards. Now you have 51 cards and you have 12 clubs left. Therefore the probability of getting the second card to be clubs would be 12/51. Therefore the probability of getting both cards to be clubs is:
1/4 x 12/51 = 1/17
I always feel it's important to specify, if the teacher had set that question, then it would be a poor question open too much interpretation.
