    For what purpose ?

At 5 years old they should NOT be running MILES!!

Unfortunately ben, the schools don't agree. My daughter is in first grade, and even last year was the same, every week in gym (they go once a week) they run 1 mile.
I don't like it. But at the same time, I'm certianly not going to teach her that she can rebel against the school just because she doesn't like something. Lol.

OP I'm not sure what your asking. Maybe if you can give more details?

I don't have an issue with structured exercise, but simply running miles for a youngster is pointless.

And the type on ground there running on.

These children are growing, the constant pounding on the ground will result in long term joint problems.

Runners knee at 6? Hip replacement at 7?

    Need more information.
