    Voltage Feedback
Cable tv/Internet went out yesterday. Tech came out and said that not only was our "line bad" and needed to be replaced, he also said that either our TV (which the cable is plugged directly into) our our electrical outlets are giving voltage feedback. When he tested the cable and the Hemingway cable that was plugged into the TV, they both measured 60 volts. He tried with the TV plugged into several different outlets. Any advice? I'm worried about a battle with the landlord.

Sorry... should have been HDMI cable, not a Hemmingway cable, which I'm sure is a cable full of metaphor.

This needs an electrician, this is beyond a CATV tech. There is probably a broken neutral connection, and system grounding is probably not done correctly.

There are too many variables and situations to go over and explain the possibilities.

This needs to be checked ASAP.

It simply could be something in the TV. But until you can tell me the outlets are fine and only the TV causes this, call an electrician.

These cables should be avoided, and the power to kill this voltage should be shut off.

    Now, not later.

Sounds like the television is the problem.. . or the tech.
