    Bank freeze
My bank account had a frreze applied feb 15, 2011. How long does the process normally take?
Also, do they take the money that's in my account on day of freeze, or can the take any more that accumulates while this process is taking place?

What is the reason for a freeze? Fraud alert or a Garnishment?

Normally on a freeze... you can't take anything out while its in effect.

Freeze is because of nonpayment on credit card. Just wondering about any deposits made after date of freeze.or do they normally only take the money that was in the account the date of freeze. Thanks

A creditor can't just freeze your accounts without a court issued judgement first.

Did you lose a case or just not show up for one? Do they have a writ of garnishment against your account?

    This is an important distinction.

    Yes, it is a writ.

With a writ... they can grab anything you have in a bank account. There are only a few exceptions to what funds they can't take. Additionally they can if they wish... have your paychecks garnished before you receive them... up to a certain percentage established by state law. They can also put a lien on any realestate you own or have interest in.
