I live in scotland and was caught shoplifting in marks & spencer clothes worth £114.I have never done this sort of thing before and I suffer with my mental health this not an exuse for what I have done.I am sick with worry will it be in the press will I go to prison? I feel my life is ruined as I was looking for a job after being on benefit for ages. I am so ashamed of myself.

Really depends on who caught you and what happened.

I don't think it will be in news and I don't think you will go to prison. If you were charged it will be in your background check should you ever have to have one for a job. Can't tell you what the judge will say or do. Maybe restritution in some way to teach you a lesson; community service. Hard to say.
