I bought a cheap little home at an auction with such goals for the place but soon after became disabled I do not have a heater in my home and now the small things I did get to repair are needing repair. I purchased the home while I was working 2 jobs and making good money but now I live on SSD of 11,000.00 a year. The heater was a project I was going to get to since I had bought a small fireplace for my living the winter after moving in my home. Well I have no money and no help. I had to distance myself from my friends for NA etc purposes so of course none of them are there to help me. I have fallen behind 2 years on my taxes and now am on a payment plan that takes all my money just to pay my bills. May I suggest your contacting the local area"Habitat for Humanity"

If that goes nowhere, start contacting local Churches.

You may ask some of the Veteran groups. If you have a Catholic Charities in your area check with them.

Also check with other religious groups that may do help with low income.

I am not aware of any United Way help but you can contact your local group, as other local charities, Also ask your welfare case worker what they are aware of

Call some of the columnists in a nearby big-city newspaper or two. In the Chicago papers, several columnists have done exactly that--reported on a disabled person's plight and gotten people to set up a trust fund from donations sent in, have gotten local craftsmen to do repairs and remodeling, and have followed up with columns to let readers know what's going on.
