    Value of life
    Hello:

According to this article, the government now values a life to be around around $8 million. Given a life span of 75 years, that's about $2,000 a week. Yet, when the end comes, we spend 100's of 1,000's of our precious medical $$$'s prolonging the inevitable, for just a few miserable weeks...

How much SHOULD we spend to keep old dying people alive for a few days?

Ex life is valuable even someone who is old so we should do all we can it isn't a question of money. One day in the not too distant future you may find someone asking the question about how hard they should work to give you a few peaceful last moments

You can't place a value on life.

    G'morning, Steve:

Wow. I think I'm surprised... Or not... On the one hand, I expected the pro life crowd to say that we should spend whatever it takes to keep old people alive for a few days... That's fairly consistent...

But, the same people, in the name of spending cuts, are willing to cut off heating oil subsidy's for old people. That ISN'T especially consistent. You want to spend millions to keep them alive, but you don't want to spend hundreds to keep them warm... In fact, NOT spending to keep them warm, MIGHT cause them to get sick, where you'll spend everything to keep them alive??

    Makes no sense to me.

Are you still just as perplexed that Obama proposed cutting heating oil subsidies for the poor, or are you just pi$$ed at Republicans that dare do such a thing? Either way, it has nothing to do with me.

    Hello again, Steve:

    Obama sucks...

Let's get back to life - or death, as the case may be. How about we cap old fart's at $100,000? Or, is that too death panely for you?

Question's: Do insurance companies approve unlimited spending during the last days? Does Medicare? Really. I don't know.

I would have spent that many times over if I could have my mom back, or just for a few pleasant, pain free days.

I don't know about Medicare but insurance policies typically have a lifetime maximum I believe.

Tough question. What is the value of the aborted life ? If that life isn't worth anything ,I could see where someone could conclude that a gezzers life is worth less.

    Hello again, tom:

It's not a tough question for me. The question is the value of life. Life begins at conception.

I think it really comes down to 2 internal issues.

    1) Quality of life.

    2) Chances of surviving the treatment.

Both are personal opinions of the facts.
