Last year my Ex took me to court to try and gain custody of our kids. Luckily the courts did the right thing in the end but litigation took several months and accumulated about 10k. This is a significant portion of my income. Is there any way I can get use this on my taxes for some type of deductions or credits?

Unfortunately no. In general legal fees are not deductible unless they are related to your job or business, or to help with tax filings.
