There are NO laws covering dating. The only laws deal with sexual activity. If you don't engage in any and, more importantly, if your parents are aware of and approve of the relationship, there is no legal reason to break up.

So there is 2+ years difference? Will he turn 18 before you turn 16? How long have you been together. Not that it matters for legality purposes. But most important of all is; do your parents approve of your dating him?

The age difference is an issue at your ages. If he was 23 and you were 20 it wouldn't matter. But when does he graduate HS? Will he be going away to college? When he turns 18 he goes into a different phase of his life. That phase may be tough on a relationship with a minor.
