No, you are a resident of NY but you are a citizen of Brazil,

You are not living in Brazil right now, but traveled to NY and are the care given I will assume for children of a family in NY.

They are suppose to be paying you and reporting your income if they do this properly.
** are they are paying the agency that provides your service.

Au pairs are considered foreign nationals in the U.S. under a working visa, so you pay taxes to both NY state and the IRS as a resident alien if you were in the U.S. for all of 2010.
