The reason for me asking is that I filled my taxes last year and never got my refund. The reason for that is because some one sent in a 1099-misc form on me for $9,000.00 and I have no ideal who it is. My tax lady told me that someone used my SS# to send in a 1099-misc form for $9,000.00. If anyone can help me find a place online to go to that would be great. I have contacted the IRS, but they really didn't say much. Said I needed to find out who the person or company is that sent the 1099 in on me, and contact them. So please someone let me know what to do. Thanks

If the IRS is telling you that someone submitted a 1099-MISC with your SS number on it, then they (the IRS) can tell you who it was. Did they send you a letter detailing the issue? If in that letter they claim you under-reported your income by $9K they would have also said who the $9K came from. So what exactly does the letter say?
