Attaching a board to a wall. Example Drilling a hole in a piece of wood. Drilling a hole in a cement wall and putting in an anchor. But then you bring the wood over to the wall and the hole in the wood does not line up with the wall anchor in the wall. Must be a kind of a template out there?

You make a template out of a piece of carboard... paper, scrap wood, whatever.

You make it to suit your needs. Because based on your post... I can't see why someone else not only would have an idential situation... but would have also made a template for others.

You use it to drive the concrete for the anchor... as well as locating the hole in the wood to get it right the first time.

Just figure out where the holes HAVE to be before drilling either item... then use the template you made to drill each item separately... far less chance for error. And trust me... there is a LOT of room to make a mistake any other way.

Don't forget... ONE side of the template for the concrete... the OTHER side of the template for the BACK side of the wood or the same side if you go from the front. Mark the template with a front and back top and bottom so you get the orientation right. And it is easy to get wrong.
