Greetings. I'm not in the US and am having a house built. We use 230V mains. Can I use 30amp circuits with 15-20amp outlets (PS Audio Power Port) with my audio equipment? I would be plugging all audio equipment to the 30amp circuit with 15-20amp outlet via a Shunyata Hydra 4 conditioner? Is this safe? Or should I change my breakers to 20amps? Thanks!

Since the Shunyata Hydra 4 conditioner has a 20 amp inlet, it should be served with a 20 amp circuit.

This unit is rated 125 volts input, how do you plan to connect to your 230 volt mains?

The Power Port receptacle is nothing more that a hospital grade device, ridiculous to pay $50.00 each.

And they say electricians are greedy.

What concerns me is the Power Port is an isolated ground device, I wonder how many installed are wired correctly.

Hello tkrussell. Thanks for the help. The Hydra 4 is actually a 230V unit bought locally. I hear you on the Power Port, audiophile stuff is indeed insanely priced, this is actually just one of the cheapest receptacles. I just wanted to try one. I haven't had the Power Port (1 piece only) installed, but the house has proper grounding. The outlet for the Power Port has uninterrupted run dedicated wires from the breaker box with its own 30A breaker. Should I go for a 20A breaker instead? No problem with leaving the bigger gauge wire in the walls though? Just concerned with safety as I'm not sure if leaving a 30A breaker would let massive amounts of current if there is a bad short at the appliance end. Thanks so much!

Use a 20 amp breaker on the heavier wire.
