We njust want to know if the gouverment will help her with money to get baby stuff or is iot down to us?

It will be up to you. She can apply for medicaid to help with the medical aspects of her pregnancy.

After the baby is born, you go after the father for child support.

I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. It's very tough when our own children are having children.

I am afraid you are on your own, or rather, the underage child is on her own. You make a mistake, you pay for it. That's why education is so important. The government is broke... they can't help you. Yeah, I know, underage children will then turn to crime in order to live, but that's why we have 2nd amendment protection. The government still guarantees that, even though they are broke.

What the heck are you talking about?

Check with your local health department, pregnancy center, or your daughter's doctor or midwife about a Healthy Start program in your area. They will have resources beyond their own program to make available to her. Also, depending on your situation, find out about qualifying for WIC. Look into consignment shops for items she may need. Definitely discuss the father of the baby (and his family) helping out now and after baby is born.

There are support programs that may help. Contact your local social services agency to see what is available. There may be family income limits that will apply. Definitely go after support from the father.

There is also a potential issue of statutory rape charges against the father depending on location.

My problem here is with the OP expecting the government to pay these expenses. I'm really not going to say any more.

However, if I knew the OPs location, I might be able to point them to some other programs that may help.

I didn't quite take it that way, but can see how others might. That's why I mentioned family income limits. I agree that the OP shouldn't be trying to get the government to foot the bill, but if it comes to an issue on the health of the mother and the child when the family can't afford it, that is what social services is for.

I agree. But the OP was asking about "things."

If the OP can't afford this child, then maybe there are other alternatives that he/she should be considering.

If the OP lives in the states there are programs like medicaid for the medical costs incurred, WIC for that provides healthy food, and of course going after the father of the baby.

And, social services is funded by the government.

15 is so very young to raise a child for the next 18 years... I hope she will give some thought to an open adoption, as a wonderful gift to a woman who can't have children.
