I am a Canadian PR and working on J1 visa in usa. I started this job in July 2010. My spouse is still in Canada on PR status and working in Canada. My question is how should we file our return for usa and canada.

I cannot advise you on your Canadian return, though I believe that Canada does NOT allow joint returns.

You must file as a non-resident alien, probably filing Form 1040NR and Form 8843 and Form 3903 to claim moving expenses. You can claim your wife as a dependent because she is earning no U.S.-sourced income. That requires submission of a Form W-7 to get her an ITIN.
