Why would my dog's teets be leaking milk if she is not pregnant nor nursing pups? I rescued her from a puppymill last May, she had had 5 liters in 2 1/2 yrs, 13 pups ea time, they took pups away at 4 weeks and breed her again. I will never breed her again, she is part of my family, she had a heat in November. Tonight I went to wake her and she had milk running down her belly from her back 4 teets, what's wrong with my baby. She is an American bulldog, roughly 80lbs, a little over 3yrs.

If you are positive she is not in whelp then she may be having a phantom pregnancy.
When they have a heat, a lot of b*tches bodies will automatically assume they are going to have puppies even if they haven't been mated.

They can start nesting, even adopt and try to nurse stuffed toys. Not only are there behavioural changes but physical changes as well. Some b*tches will gain weight and even start lactating.

The major thing to watch out for with phantoms is mastitis. Mastitis is basically when the milk gland gets infected.
The signs are usually red and inflamed teats that feel hot to the touch as well as pus or off-colored discharge.
