    Ask the J.A.G. office.

If you have a lease, do you understand that you may have to pay the rent until a new tenant can be located?

THere is difference between an emergency and an inconvienience.

    This is an inconvienience.

A 300 lb spouse in a wheelchair is one thing... that might be an emergency... a 6 year old can be carried up and down those steps fairly easily wheelchair and all. Its only inconvienient. There is a huge difference between the two... and would be in court as well.

    Understand the differences.

First no, they don't have to let you out of the lease,

You can request a down stairs unit and/or a handicap unit when one is available.

You need to notify the landlord of the medical problem and provide them the medical documents needed.

They will have to put you on a list to provide you a down stairs unit as soon as one is available. They are not required to allow you out of the lease.

They may of course , or may for a small buy out of the lease.
