All right, I have been wracking my brain trying to figure this out. It was a movie that played on TV all the time when I was little in the mid to late 80's. It was a Sci Fi flick and there was a group of kids. The only really pertinent detail that I can recall is that there was kind of a sparkling fairy glitter ball (I can say that it wasn't Solarbabies but that played all the time too). I seem to recall a desert/post apocalyptic feel to it but it's been a long time.

I've googled every aspect of the plot I can remember and had no luck so far.

Not much to go off but if anyone remembers please share.

That sounds exactly like Solarbabies to me
