I was 36 weeks and 2 cm dialated with my daughter and she came about 2 weeks later!! Everyone is different and your baby will come when he/she is ready! Don't force her out she can do it! Unless there is a medical emergency or interference don't get an induction!

    Good Luck! Congratulations!

Coming from a Labor & Delivery nurse (me), I can tell you that 2cm is not really that much, unfortunately. Your baby could hang around in your uterus for the next four weeks without difficulty.

As I tell my patients, only the Good Lord knows exactly when that baby will come. There really isn't a timetable for this sort of thing.

Am I correct to assume this is your first?

Inductions are relatively safe and a woman should never go past 42 weeks gestation due to placental insufficiency. This is one reason inductions are done around the 39th week since dating is not an exact science and the 39 weeker could actually be 40-42 weeks along.

Coming from a mother of two completely naturally born children (me), I can tell you that the maternity care system in America is not what every mom-to-be believes it is.
Inductions are RELATIVELY safe and necessary AFTER 40 weeks gestation. Before then unless under certain circumstances they are NOT necessary at all. Only hoping to speed up the process and get the baby out.

This is my second child. With my first child she was about two weeks early and I was only in labor for 7 hours. Pushed 4 times and she popped out
