Does my print by C. Westchiloff have any monetary value?
"I recently purchased a beautiful old framed print from a thrift store. It's a seascape (20X24) signed C. Westchiloff in the lower right corner. A label on the back identifies it as 'Rock Bound Coast.' I noticed that at least one other 'Ask Me Help Desk' member mentioned a similar print. Do these Westchiloff prints have any monetary value? Just curious, as I've had it reframed professionally and it's beautiful on my wall where I can see it every day. Thanks for your response!"

The value of a print depends on its quality and how well it has retained the colours applied to it, in addition to the number of prints made, and the artist's reputation. All of these questions are best answered by a professional appraiser who is trained in valuing these kinds of prints, rather than an unsophisticated guess. The best thing though is that you enjoy it! Most of the time prints are really not worth much at all because they are produced in such large quantities, but their value to their admirers far outweighs any monetary price. A good source for an appraiser is an auction house. You could call them and ask about their prices, and even a reference to a cheaper appraiser.
