    J1 internship- Job expense deduction?
    Hello,

I was a J-1 intern last year and worked in CA almost but few days less than 1 year. I am a student of foreign country's graduate school, so my home is not in CA, but in my home country. In this case, am I eligible for Job expense deduction(traveling away from home)? Like house rent, car purchase for commute, etc?

    Thanks for your help,
    Joy

When did you enter the US on J-1 and when did you leave?
When you joined in CA, was the job expected to last less than a year?

    Thanks for your response.
I entered Jan.22.2010 and will leave on this February. And my internship was planned to be last a year (2/1-1/31).
And sorry for my mistake above, but for clarification, I am a undergraduate student. How does it affect on my eligibility?
