    If I am a student and billed for 5979 dollars qualified exspenses how much would I be getting back (around).

    Are you are US citizen or resident? Did you get 1099-T?

    I believe the refundable part of the Aemrican Opportunity Credit is $1,000, but you MUST qualify by being a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident.
