From what I remember, their were people being held hostage in a bus out in the desert by thugs on dunebuggies and motorcycles.The tires got shot out on the bus so as not to be able to escape. To escape the thugs, the people realized to switch the inner wheels to the outer wheels and were able to escape. I believe it was from the late 70's to early 80's.

I'm guessing it's the TV movie Detour to Terror... unfortunately starring O.J. Simpson. I saw this in its original broadcast and thought it was awesome. I don't want to see it again and be disillusioned.
