Can I sue my former employer for $8,000 wages owed to me?
I would like to file suit again my former employer who owes me in excess of $8,000 for time/hours worked. If I file suit and win, I want HIM to have to pay for any attorney fees that I have to incur. I understand that there are ways attorneys can request this, however, I am unaware of how. I also worked over 200 hours of overtime and I never asked for extra money, just the regular hours pay, which I can't seem to receive from him.

Please advise if anyone is aware of how I can request that he pay attorney fees/costs should I win my case?

    Thank You

Yes, you may sue for it, if you do so within the time limit of the claim. You may also ( if in the US) report them to the department of labor of your state.

Thank you.. I will also contact Dept. of Labor which is something that I had not thought of.

    You certainly helped me!

    Best regards,

Were you salaried or an hourly employee?

    Hello Brandy:

You're going to have trouble with your suit... Certainly, 200 hours of overtime happened over a period... Apparently, you didn't say anything about the shortage then. Because, you didn't, you may not be able to raise it now.

If you did let him get away with it for a time, why?
