    Rheem 17J14SFDAI
    Hello,

We have a Rheem 17J14SFDAI. Yesterday we noticed the heater was not putting out warm air. The unit was completely frozen, practically a block of ice. (which I have never seen happen before) So we knocked the ice off the unit and the fan started blowing again and Yay! Warm house. Well late last night we noticed once again the vents were blowing cold air and the fan was not turning. We turned the unit off for fear of burning it up or something going wrong due to the fan sticking. Thank you for any advice and help you can provide.

    Thanks,
    Nichole

In a heat pump, the ice is normally removed by a reverse cycle timer or heat strip. One of these is bad, causing the ice buildup. You could then dislodged a piece of ice that is blocking the fan or punctured the freon line when knocking the ice off. Need to have an HVAC tech look at it.
