I have a Kenmore Elite, Mod: 110.60942990, It runs and will eventually dry the close but stops and starts many times on its own …may take hours to get things dry.

What you are telling us is indicative of a plugged vent pipe. The dryer overheats, safety trips, cools down and restarts. Pull the dryer out from the wall and check the vent connection, pipe and outlet for a blockage. When did you clean the vent ststem last?
