Two dogs fighting, how do I make them stop?
I have two yorkies... one four year old that I've had since a puppy, the other I took in after my niece found it and couldn't find the owner, she is 3 years old (so the vet says)she came in heat about a month after I got her so we had her fixed, the older dog was fixed at around six months... ever since she came in heat they have been fighting... We can't hardly get them apart... they are both sweet dogs but not together.. they will be fine and then if someone talks to the younger one they fight, or just my daughter walking in the door and they start barking and then they just go at each other... we are at the point where I will have to find a new home for one of them because I'm scared they are really going to hurt each other or someone trying to separate them. Now I just noticed for the last two days they have been marking the back yard and then scratching the grass at each place... I need help and quick! Any suggestions?

Your girls are fighting for their space within the pack.

You need to put your foot down and tell BOTH dogs that YOU are in charge, and they are to follow you.

With your older dog, honor the fact that she was there first. The younger one needs to be put in her place, which is rock bottom. You can do this with very simple things.. Greet your oldest dog first, feed her first, give her treats first, give her pets first. If the other one starts to become pushy, push her away or leave the room completely. The younger dog (the older one, too) doesn't call the shots.

Contact a trainer that can meet you at your house. You will have better luck having someone come to your house and seeing the problems head on. Also.. obedience will help your situation also..

Bark Busters is a pretty good at home training group.

    Good luck
