If I file a restraining order will it affect my future citizenship?
I am a green card holder and planning to apply for citizenship next year. My long ago ex-boyfriend is mentally ill and suddenly had a flesh back showing up by my house and not leaving me alone for last couple weeks. I was advised to file a restraining order against him. The only concern -- will it affect my records when I apply for citizenship?
    Thanks very much

It could depending on what happens next - what he says, what you say, what the Police do.

The other side of this is that you have to be safe, no matter what.

It shouldn't effect it at all. You are legal... and the restraining order is a legal step to protect yourself. (they would not issue one without showing just cause).

YOU getting arrested will affect you, but getting a restaining order against someone who is threatening you won't.

Just be careful YOU don't do anything that can result in your arrest.
