Working on H1-B, and tax return if status on W4 changes
    Hi,

I am working on H1-B and entered in US on 13th Nov 2010. After that I completed all HR formalities by submitting all documents along with W4. Now when I submitted W4, I selected as married, as I am married, but right now my wife is not with me and staying single for next few months.
Now I came to know that status on W4 should be single in this case. Information provided as per W4, I got salary deducting tax for 1.5 months.
    Now my questions are:
    1. Taxes which are deducted from salary, considering Married, as I have not shown any dependent in W4, point 'C'.
    2. If yes, then do I need to show any proof that I am single as it will be asked to show proof of married and my wife I94 details like that?
    3. Any other possibility in this case?

You DO know that you can file jointly with your wife on your 2010 tax return even though she is NOT in the United States, right?

If not, email me at [email protected] and I will explain in detail the law and the process for filing such a return.
