    The old unpaid amount remains owed to the custodial parent... just NEW monthly ammounts added end at 18 most states... except for penalties and interest on the original debt which continue until it satisfied.

    Has there been a change in financial circumstance? Another thing is that if you are being charged interest on arrears then in reality you want to pay it off as fast as you can. Or it will drag on forever even after your dead.

    The back support is still owed, and you have to keep paying the back support to the other parent till the back support is paid.
