I just read a thread about someone's microwave repeatedly tripping the circuit. I have the same problem. I plan to try the microwave on other outlets. If it turns out the microwave is OK, about how much $$ should I expect to pay for changing a circuit? FYI, I live in Chicago.

Having never worked in Chicago, I have no sense of the market there, but I would suspect the rates would be a liitle on the high side.

Of course, also depends on how long a run is needed, type of wiring method
( I believe most wiring in Chicago needs to be done in conduit).

So if the hourly rate is $75.00 per hour and it takes one man 4 hours, plus approximately $100.00 in materials including markup, taxes, permit fees, your looking at $400.00.

Contact 2 or 3 smaller contractors and ask for a written quote, be sure they have the proper insurances, and apply for the proper permits.
