Hello, I am a citizen of India. I came here in Dec 2007. Joined Master in Jan 2008. I was a student till Dec 2009 and afterward I was on OPT for year 2010. I never paid a tax before while studying. For Year 2010 tax, how much standard deduction I will get? Shall I get personal exemption as well as treaty US India from Article 21(2) both? How much are they as per 2010 tax rule? Thanks

As an international, Indian student, you are allowed to claim both a $3,650 personal exemption plus the $5,700 personal exemption under Article 21(2) of the U.S.-Indian Tax Treaty.

If you are married with children, you can also claim your wife and children as dependents.
