    Non-resident alien taxation in NY,US
I need help in understanding the tax return filing & refund claim processes in the USA, please.
I was in New York for 7 weeks from September to November 2010 on an L1 visa. My W2 shows my company's New Jersey address (I've been back in India for 3 months and have no other US address).
The Free File sites don't allow me to file part-year returns, and where they do, the NJ address for NY taxes is thrown up as an error.
Appreciate your advice on next steps.

Since you got a W-2, the income is U.S.-sourced. Howveer, you need to file Form 1040NR and NOT file on-line.

The odds are that your income level is such that there will be NO tax liability.

Email me at [email protected] with a copy of the W-2 and I will do an refund estimate
