I gave a security deposit back to my roommate 4 weeks ago and gave him a week to leave my apartment and he has not left my apartment. It has been 4 weeks now. I gave him a receipt for his securtiy deposit that states he should leave and a week free. He has a girlfrien that he brings to the room and leaves her there all day while he is out working. I told him she could not be there unless he is there with her. He said I was right and said okay, but he still brings her in. I called the police and they told me there was nothing I could do about. I would have to take him to housing court. And that I have to accept whoever he brings in and everything he does. I feel very threatended and scared in my own apartment. So my main question is Can I take his belongs out of my apartment if I have the receipt that he signed to leave my apartment 4 weeks ago? I live in the Bronx,NY. Please reply at [email protected].
