When you file as Married Filing Jointly you check off exemptions for yourself and your spouse on lins 6a and 6b of your Form 1040. But to be clear about something: this assumes she is a US citizen or resident - is she?
She is not a citizen but we both fall into Resident alien category as we have lived in US since last 4 years and do match the Substantial Presence Test (SPT). Also she was employed for Jan - March and since then she has been on H4 Visa which is dependent visa and in which she cannot work now. What do u mean when u say check off exemptions for myself n and my wife on 6a n 6b while filing??
Yes, you meet the criteria. File jointly.
You should be able to efile, which is mandatory this year.
