Frozen pipes - detecting burst pipes
Cold side of the kitchen faucet was frozen this a.m.
Trickle returned this evening, followed by an immediate drop in hot faucet pressure - then some brownish water - the brownish water lasted 20 seconds - but the pressure is still low
1/3 pressure now and can get both some hot and some cold
    Have left at a trickle

How can I detect a burst pipe - before it's painfully obvious?
    Now what?

    Thanks

One way to detect a bursted pipe is to turn off all of your faucets and make sure that your commodes are not running, then use something like a long screw driver put one end to any faucet body and the other end to your ear, if you hears anything that sounds like water hissing that means you have water going somewhere. If you can see you water meter do the same thing about the faucets and commodes and then look at the meter, it has a small wheel under the glass that will indicate if there is water going through.
Now about the lower pressure, I think when your pipe froze it may have broke off so scale inside the pipe and now it has become lodged in your faucet. More that likely you will have to take the faucet apart and clean it out for it to work right.
