    Furnace Fan
Hello, I have an old furnace in my home that is in need of replacing, however due to lack of funds at this time I cannot replace it. My question is this... I would like to use the fan to move our warm air from the front of our house to the other rooms by turning just the fan on. My thermostat has a fan switch, but it does not work. Is there a way to override the thermostat so that the fan would come on by itself? I have turned off the pilot light and would like to use just the fan. Here is all the infor on the make and model of my furnace. Day&Night #394gaw00075 I think it's made by BDP company or Carrier.
    Thanks, Jeff

Go to the furnace and see if you can find a red wire on an r terminal, and a green wire on a g terminal. Use a short wire to connect the R&G terminals. If the fan comes on, all you need to d is pick up a light duty switch and connect it between the R&G terminals.

If the blower doesn't run when you jumper the terminals, the relay or high speed windings in the motor are bad. Repairing that may restore the fan function of the thermostat.
