Distance between water cutoff valve and washer
Hi,
I want to install my washing machine water valve on the side of my washing machine so I can stack the washer and dryer and still have access to the valve. The installation instructions that come with the valve ( standard Watts 1/2" dual ball valve) say that the valve should be 3" above the washing machine top. The place I want to put it will actually be about 6" below the top of the washing machine and to the side, but why should it matter? The hot and cold lines are pressurized and the valve is just a mechanical part.
Are they just giving this as a guide-line to get the point across that the valve should be left accessible to the user, and can I just install it as I like?
Thanks,
Bruce
