    First trimester bleeding
I am 42 yrs old and 11 1/2 weeks pregnant. 2 sonograms (6 weeks and 8 1/2 weeks) showed fetus implanted well in utero and strong heart beat, HCG 31760 12/21/10. This morning woke with bleeding. Red blood, no bleeding since 630 this morning, no cramping. Doc told me to "watch and wait". Is this normal. Please help

Bleeding in the first trimester is quite common. It can be caused by a number of things including intercourse or a placenta previa that may resolve, just to name two.

Your doctor is correct in taking the wait and see approach.

I know it doesn't make you feel any less concerned, but try to relax and see what happens.

How much were you bleeding? Did you fill a pad? Was it spotting?
