    Advice
My sister and brother in-law are homeless and are currently staying with me,my partner and daughter in out 2 bedroom flat until they are housed. Things have been some what difficult resulting in my brother in law to commit a crime, because of this he now has a curfew of 7pm - 6am and has to sign in at the police station 3 days a week. With the curfew I understand that my brother in law has to present himself to a uniformed police officer when they come to my address. I also understand that the police have a right to come at anytime between the curfew to make sure my brother in law is sticking to his bail conditions but my concern is that because of my daughter being in bed asleep when the police come in the early hours that they are being somewhat unreasonable by ringing my door buzzer knowing that we are most likely to be in bed and banging on the windows. Ive asked that when the police are outside my address that they call my mobile phone and I can then quietly go and wake my brother in law so he is able to present himself without having to wake everyone else... including my 2 year old daughter.
On most occasions the police have called the mobile and I have had no problem with this but on more than one occasion have had police carry on buzzing the buzzer and be very rude and when asked why they never rang the response has been that it doesn't say anywhere for them to call but if this is the case then why have we been told by officers that have come round before that it said that they are to call the mobile? I would be very greatfull for any advice you may be able to give me.

    Hello E:

The fact that the police cooperated with you at ALL is the surprise here - not the fact that some of them didn't. If it were me, I'd be happy with the cooperation I was getting...

You let them stay with you so now they have restablished residency. The cops have every right to come to your home to check on him unannounced, you made your home his home.
