Can paint fumes make a dog cough
We just recently had our kitchen painted wiv gloss paint. The day after our dog which is a staffy cross lab, started coughing but not all the time morning and night mainly. Its like she's gagging but nothing comes up. Other than that she's fine, she eats drinks and is playfull as normal. *** help?

Latex or oil? All paint has VOCs and they can be strong in some. You and your dog can react to VOC and its possible your dog could be allergic. I would call the vet and take the dog in, also ventilate the home.

Is it latex or solvent based paint? Latex shouldn't cause your symptoms since the primary evaporative is water. Some solvent based paints contain toluene, benzene and other organic solvents and may cause a sensitive person or pet to cough. Could it be a piece of bone or other eaten object?
