They can sue you, get a judgment against you and wait until you do have money to collect - or, depending on your State, they can lien against real estate and garnish your wages.
A judgment is valid for (usually) 10 years, renewable for another 10.
Yes are you working ? What would happen if 25% of your pay all of a sudden went to them ?
But yes they can sue you in court, get a judgement, and depending on location, garnish the money from your bank accounts, and get some from each pay check
No I do not work I am retired and on disability
Who do you owe? For what?
Depends on the type of disability and the State - they can lien against property, they can lien against your disability check, they can continue to try to collect for (approximately) 20 years.
Hello again, lady:
I apologize for the site... But, please keep all your posts on the same thread, and use the "answer" feature instead of the "comment" feature...
We work better if we have ALL the facts involved... Tell us WHO you owe the money to, and what transpired to cause the debt?? You can ALWAYS negotiate a settlement.

I am just wondering iof she might be dealing with a collection agency or 3rd party who bought a debt. SOL could come into play but it's a long shot without more info
