Is brown discharge instead of my period a sign of perimenopause
Saturday January 22, was my "due" date for my period... so when I saw some
(3 drops to be exact) of really pale pink on the tissue when I wiped, I went and put on a pad because I figured, this was the sign of my period about to start... but nothing else showed up,
Then on Sunday morning bearly a slight show of brownish discharge so I put a pad again... and no blood all day or night... only a bit
More of the brownish and only when I wiped not even on the pad... then Monday the pad was practically clean all day...
Again a bit of brownish and yesterday a bit more of brownish... then nothing... so this morning I put on a pad again... but
Nothing yet... so we are talking about 3 days (sunday-tuesday) and lets see what happens today... I have had lower back
Pain mainly in the afternoon, very mild cramping of the lower abdomen about twice-or three times and only momentarily since Sunday... I am 44 years old my menstruation began when I was 11.

If you have engaged in sex, pregnancy is a possibility. However, it certainly could be the start of perimenopause, which can go on for a number of years, and that will be all you will have this month. It may just be an off cycle as well and your period will either be a bit late, or you may skip a normal period.

It is normal for a lot of women. It can also happen when on the pill and also a side effect of coming off the pill. I have heard that it is a sign of low progesterone, but I'm not sure on that. I have dealt with it for a lot of years.

I think the brown discharge is a sign of pregnancy. Or maybe your blood has dried? The, um, situation where blood stops flowing and starts again is completely normal. :-)

I have the same story I'm 44 years old, periods have always come on time. Then one month there is a little brown and hardly enough to wear a pad.I guess it's really just the start of the change.
