    I got caught by this too (on a different system).
    S-video is video only... which is why they named it that.

    If HDMI works for you, it will be the superior connection. HDMI is hi-def, whereas S-video maxes out at 480p (DVD quality). Plus no sound!

    If you must use S-video, you'll need a separate audio connection.
