There was this movie I seen back in the 80's and in this movie there was this crazy nuttball driver who picked up a hitch hiker. He was driving this jacked up hot rod not sure of the make but I think it might have been a yearly to mid 70's dodge chager. I remember seeing a confederate flag somewhere in or on the car and I remember the hitch hiker asking the driver to slow down and proclaiming something smelled bad. This is all I have and for some reason this movie is stuck in my head and won't leave. That's all I remember and I hope this rings a bell with you folks out there. I know for a fact its not the general lee so don't go there lol.

This is reminding me of a Stephen King short story I've read, that I could have sworn was called Ride the Bullet - I found a movie on IMDB called Riding the Bullet - maybe that's what you're looking for?. only thing is - this is more recent than the 80's... I'll search to see if there is an older version...

No I have Riding the bullet. The movie is fairly old. It has that smokey and the bandit/Bullet look to the film. The redneck in the hotrod was very redneck and the car is very redneck like who in their right mind would get into the car redneck. Picture the "hey that thing got a Hemi" guys only nutz. The car had a drastic rake to it being jacked up in the back and suck and the car was loud. I remember the guy turning to the driver and asking if a skunk died in the car or something like that.
