If you were off a day sick no matter how many hours you worked than yes the employer can require you to use a sick day.

I could help if you can take another run at this sentence " I was sick and a say that snowed but stayed late to compensate for those hours" Read it 3x and still am clueless on what you are saying. Can you explain?
I am reading a sick day and a snow day. If a salaried exempt is ready and willing to work and the company is closed for a snow day that salaried exempt must still be paid. If the salaried exempt is sick and has PTO, personal or vacation time to use the employer may use it for a sick day.

Could very wll be but I had a guy who called in sick and then we called off work due to snow. He wanted me to re-instate his sick day. We did not. Maybe this is the Ops situation
