    Visa status after resigning
I'm having problem at my current work (I am on a H1B visa valid from September 2009 - Sept 2012) because basically my employer is not understanding in many ways (like having me working sick, in spite of medical advise when I work at a school, etc... ). I am thinking about resigning from my current job soon. If that happens, I would like to know what the law stipulates in terms of my presence in the US territory. Can I stay a little longer after resigning? Can I (or do I have to) leave the US territory the same day? Can I return as a tourist a week or so after leaving it? Thank you for your help! - Isabel

You are allowed a "reasonable" time to depart. Your employer is likely to notify the USCIS of your separation very soon after you leave. You should be fine if you leave within 10 days.

You should leave US within 10 days. You can return as visitor or other type of visa.. good luck.
