Yesterday AM the breaker for the furnace kept tripping. I opened it up and noticed that the wire running to the limit screw on the limit switch had melted to the furnace. I removed the wire and ran a new one. Now the fan runs but the burners won't. Any ideas?

Did the limit switch check out OK?

It seems to. I bypassed the limit switch and the burners still won't light. Could the electrical short have caused the gas valve to malfunction. I don't see any other reason why the burners won't light.

If one wire was burnt youe may have a second wire burnt. Will the blower work if you turn the thermostat fan switch to on(checking to see if you have 24v)? If you can give us a pic of what you repaired.

Blower will work in the on position only, but that has how it has worked for a while now. I re-wired from the supply box to the limit switch (all three wires) and that didn't do anything. The initial snipping of the burnt wire and re-attaching it to the limit spot on the limit switch got the blower going again. I will submit a picture tomorrow and see if you guys can help me some more. Thanks for the input so far.
