I am currently under court order to take my son to see his dad fortnightly which I have been so far. I do not agree that contact should progress to overnight contact as he has missed a lot of visits and been quite nasty towards me. I do not trust him with my son anymore. I want to know what I can do to stop it progressing and if I can't what could happen to me if I go against an order?

You can go back to court to modify the present agreement. If you violate it, he can get the cops to help him ENFORCE the agreement, so you won't win there... And, the judge can fine you, and put you in jail for contempt of court.

The father could file contempt of court motion against you and try to use that as grounds to take custody away from youu.

1. he does not have to be nice to you, in fact he is not really required to talk to you if he does not want to.
** it is better if he would be nice, but the court order can not make him be nice.

2. sadly he is not required to visit on his times, he is just allowed to.

If you want to try and stop the progression, you can file in court to try to change the current court orders,

BUT***** unless you can prove he is a real danger, with evidence that the court can use, merely not trusting him will not be a reason. Most ex's don't trust or like or even act civil to their ex's.
