What is the statute of limitations on a judgement in Tennessee?
I signed a contract for a water filtering system in a home I purchased in 2006. In 2008, lost my land survey job to the recession and effectively lost my home to the bank. Of course, I lost the water system as well. I did have a judgement against me in local courts to pay the collection agency that took over the debt... yet I have never paid them. What's the statute of limitations on such a debt? Is it "til the end of time" because of the court judgement?

If they already have a judgment awarded, then the statute of limitations is void. So you are saying that they have never garnished your wages, or called you on the judgment? The judgment is still in effect and seeing as it was awarded to them, then you are actually in contempt of a court order.

    Something is missing here.

Well, its hard to garnish wages that I don't have. I've been on extended unemployment because of losing my job "through no fault of my own". They (the collection agency) has tried a few times to contact me, but I never had dialogue with them.

It doesn't matter what you don't have, they will get their money any way they can because they are allowed to through the judgment. Is it credit card debt, what kind of debt is it and how much ?

Basically, the answer to your question is, they have a judgment against you, they will collect it, keep hounding you and find a way to get their money. The statute of limitations is not in effect here. The court awarded them this option.
